Biography
Growing up in Harlem, NY, Robert Laurie spent a great deal
of time alone sketching. He would sit on the stoop or fire escape and would sketch cars going by, the birds in the trees,
monuments, spires and all other things he found interesting. This was the beginning of a lifelong passion called art.
Today, Robert Laurie views his artistic impressions as an opportunity to share his experiences with the public. He has adapted the modern artistic form which involves a pseudorealistic and impressionistic
approach to representing life modes.
As a native of New York City he studied graphic design and painting at the Art Student’s
League of New York as well as Fine Art Painting at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Robert is also a current member of the Barstard Artist Association and Gallery as well as the International
Black Writers and Artists, Inc. As a resident of Massachusetts now, he has shown his
works in and around the state at various galleries, art shows and private showings.
For an artist whose background was formed in the environment of New York’s Harlem of the fifties, his work will
be social and personal in content, utilizing color and form to set a mood and or statement.
All prints of his original work are signed and numbered. Shipping and
handling charges are included in the price of the piece.
